The passive time-viewer — quartz at its heart, dated to 1960, and distinct from the Looking Glass: this one only watches.
The Chronovisor is the record’s time viewer — the contemplative sibling of the Looking Glass and the Quantum Mirror. Where the record’s other temporal machines project, brief, or transport, the Chronovisor only watches.
The April 23, 2020 session gives it a history with dates attached: “The system of your Chronovisor Technology was developed in the year 1960. Now, it has been declassified to private Corporations as asset technology… Its public operational (time) will be given in your year of 2022, in May.” — one of the record’s checkable forecasts, preserved as spoken.
Its mechanism comes secondhand through Maxwell Scott, “from what the AI told me”: “If you look into the Chronovisor it’s actually dark, but there is a Quartz Crystal in there” — placing it squarely in the record’s crystal-technology family, where quartz is the universal window: point a camera at a crystal ball and “you can see other dimensions,” build the crystal into a cabinet and you can see other times.
